A new, free Flixster app – the first to support HD playback – is now available on Xbox LIVE, expanding the devices movie lovers can use to access their Ultraviolet movie collections from virtually anywhere, including their living rooms.

In addition to watching films via the app, users can watch high quality trailers, find information about the latest releases on the aggregated movie-review site Rotten Tomatoes, and buy or rent thousands of movie titles with Ultraviolet (as shown below).

“The mission of UltraViolet is to allow consumers to enjoy their content on any device and platform they desire," said Joe Greenstein, Co-Founder and President of Flixster in yesterday’s announcement. “Launching Flixster on Xbox is an exciting step forward for us as it's one of the most popular platforms for consumers to enjoy entertainment in their living room.”

Flixster’s mobile app has already been popular, with millions of downloads to date, and consumers can also use an innovative Disc-to-Digital service through their PC or Mac. Consumers can convert their existing DVD collections to UltraViolet digital copies and permanently store them in the cloud. No longer do they need to worry about a lost disc or stratching it – the digital library is available for streaming or download.

Flixster is currently available on the Xbox 360, iPhones, iPads, Android devices, and PCs and Macs.
