It’s still two weeks before Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk arrives in theaters, but cinephiles can buy tickets now for special 70MM screenings of the World War II action thriller.
In 1940, Nazi forces surrounded nearly 400,000 Allied soldiers on the beach at Dunkirk, France. The film chronicles their harrowing escape, considered a pivotal moment early in the war. The 70MM format will bring viewers closer to the battle scenes through images three times the resolution of standard projection formats, plus state-of-the-art digital sound.
“The immersive quality of the image is second to none, drawing the audience into the action in the most intense way possible,” said Nolan.
