John Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Ed Helms, Jake Johnson and Hannibal Buress joined fans for the game in the sweltering Texas heat. Thanks to the die-hard fans, the previous record—for a Michigan game involving 634 players—melted away. The result was certified by Philip Robertson of Guinness World Records, who was in attendance to verify the win and present a plaque.

Based on a true story (no, really) of a group of friends playing the same game of tag for decades, Tag arrives in theaters June 15.
