TBS Superstation Announces Development Deal for Original Monkey Series

TBS Superstation has signed an original comedy series development deal based on the network's Monkey-ed Movies original shorts, announced TBS Superstation President Bill Burke at the upfront sales presentation to advertisers in Los Angeles. The deal, with Warner Bros. Domestic Pay-TV Cable & Network Features and in association with Palomar Pictures, marks the Superstation's first venture into original series development.

"With the enormous success of our Monkey-ed Movies original shorts, it is a natural next step for us to develop this concept into an original series," said Burke. "We continue to deliver on our promise of bringing bold, innovative original programming that our audience has come to expect from the Superstation."

Monkey-ed Movies are comedy shorts featuring costumed primates acting out scenes from some of Hollywood's most popular movies. Among the 48 featured titles are Oscar-winning and -nominated Titanic, Good Will Hunting, As Good As It Gets, The Full Monty, L.A. Confidential. The 60-90 second parodies, produced by Palomar Pictures, are made under the creative direction of TBS Superstation in association with Warner Bros. Domestic Pay-TV, Cable & Network Features, licensor and distributor of the product. TBS Superstation has an exclusive four-year deal for unlimited runs.
