NCAA® March Madness® Live™ Sets All-Time Record with More Than 80 Million Live Video Streams During 2015 NCAA Tournament

Record-Setting Performance Includes Nearly 18 Million Hours of Live Video Consumption During NCAA Tournament TV Everywhere Usage Soars with Double Digit Year-Over-Year Increases Across the Board

NCAA March Madness Live, managed by Turner Sports, set all-time records with 80.7 million live video streams and 17.8 million hours of live video consumption during this year’s NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.  This year’s record-setting live video streams are up 17% over last year, with hours of live video consumption up 19% vs. 2014. Additionally, TV Everywhere usage soared during this year’s tournament, recording double-digit year-over-year increases across Turner’s websites and apps throughout the entire tournament.
NCAA March Madness Live set all-time records during this weekend’s NCAA Final Four including six million live video streams (up 59% over 2014) and 1.5 million hours of live video consumption (up 53%) for the National Semifinal doubleheader featuring Kentucky vs. Wisconsin and Duke vs. Michigan State. Last night’s National Championship registered a record-setting 3.4 million live video streams and one million hours of live video consumption, up 66% and 69%, respectively, over last year.
NCAA March Madness mobile consumption also continued to surge with live video streams and hours of live video consumption both up 20% over last year.
This year’s NCAA Tournament also garnered significant audience increases for fans who logged in to watch live streaming via Turner’s TV Everywhere platforms including a 42% increase in live video streams and a 34% gain in hours of live video consumption. Usage on logged-in mobile devices continued to soar, garnering a 58% increase in live streams and a 51% increase in time spent viewing versus the 2014 tournament.

This year’s top five most-watched games across digital platforms, based on live video streams:

  • Northeastern vs. Notre Dame – 3.9 million
  • Wisconsin vs. Kentucky – 3.5 million
  • UAB vs. Iowa State – 3.4 (3.37) million
  • Wisconsin vs. Duke – 3.4 (3.36) million
  • Notre Dame vs. Kentucky – 3.3 million

In partnership between the NCAA, Turner Sports and CBS Sports, NCAA March Madness Live launched from,,, CBS Sports App, Bleacher Report’s Team Stream, the App Store, the Amazon App Store, Windows Store and Google Play.  Additionally, fans could watch games via live streaming on TNT, TBS and truTV’s digital platforms, as well as participating TV provider websites.
