The Kiss Heard 'Round the Comic World
Sparks turn into flames in the comic world this week. JUSTICE LEAGUE #12 by DC's Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and artist/co-publisher Jim Lee, features two of their most iconic heroes, DC Comics' Superman and Wonder Woman, in a lip-lock that will have tongues wagging across the comics universe.
The power couple should come as no surprise to longtime readers of the heroes, as the pair have previously hooked-up, but this is their most mainstream pairing. Is this the start of a long-term romance between the two super heroes? According to comic book insiders, the idea for a Superman-Wonder Woman hookup has been in the works for more than a year, and the relationship is something Johns has wanted to explore for quite a while. The re-launch of DC's titles as "THE NEW 52" gave him a creative opening.
In an official statement, Johns said, "This is the type of story and relationship that 'THE NEW 52' allows us to create. We're able to make connections between characters that lead us down unexpected roads. How this story progresses throughout the DC Comics universe hopefully will surprise everyone."
