The Los Angeles Times profiled Warner Bros.' President of International Distribution, Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, in yesterday's paper.

Here are five highlights you may not know about the Hollywood leader, who manages the release of more than 20 movies a year in over 120 countries around the world:

  • Kwan Vandenberg had an extremely international upbringing - she was born in Hong King to a Chinese father and German mother, spoke English, Cantonese and German by age 6, and lived in Lebanon, Germany and the Netherlands as a child.
  • She began her career as an intern in foreign movie marketing at Lorimar and became an analyst in the studio's international distribution unit when Warner Bros. acquired Lorimar in 1989.
  • When Kwan Vandenberg started at Warner Bros., the international box office accounted for only 25% of its worldwide receipts. The foreign box office now accounts for 60% of the global total.
  • Her favorite part of the job is visiting movie sets, including most recently The Hobbit in New Zealand.
  • Kwan Vandenberg balances her global position with raising a 13-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter.
