Time Warner Pledges at least $1M to Sandy Relief

In wake of the worst storm to hit the greater Tri-State area, Time Warner Inc. along with all its divisions, including HBO, Time Inc., Turner and Warner Bros., will donate $1 million to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in addition to matching U.S. employee donations. Half of the $1m donation will go to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City while the other $500,000 will be dispersed to various relief efforts throughout the region.

Doing what they do best, Time Warner's brands like CNN and various Time Inc. publications including TIME are also working around the clock to keep their global audience informed. One example is CNN's "Impact Your World," a website providing current and widespread information about relief efforts and the recovery process, and resources for storm victims as well as those looking to help, either financially or manually.

And at 8 p.m. tonight, HBO will join the networks of NBC Universal in airing "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together," a one-hour telethon benefiting the American Red Cross relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Christina Aguilera, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Sting and Jon Bon Jovi are all scheduled to perform.

"New York City is our corporate home, the home to thousands of our employees, the headquarters of HBO and Time Inc., and the location for so many of our film and television productions. We feel a special kinship with all those who have been affected by this devastating storm," said Jeff Bewkes, Chairman and CEO, Time Warner Inc. "Time Warner and its employees have always responded in selfless and generous ways to help those in need and we hope that our contributions will help people to rebuild and recover."

Time Warner and its employees are as dedicated as ever to helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy. In coming weeks, employees will be encouraged to volunteer at various organizations such as New York Cares, NYC Service, the Long Island Volunteer Group and the New York Food Bank, through the company-wide Impact initiative started last month.
