WB Spain Gets “Excited” for Almodóvar’s Latest
Earlier this month, the streets of Madrid’s Plaza de Callao were filled with hundreds of people dancing in sync to the Pointer Sisters’ “I’m So Excited.” 1970s revival, you ask?
Behind the scenes, Warner Bros. Spain organized a massive flash mob to promote its release of Pedro Almodóvar’s latest, Los Amantes Pasajeros (the film's English langauge title is I’m So Excited).
The film shares more than its title with the song, which is also featured on the movie soundtrack and in a mid-movie interlude. Los Amantes Pasajeros captures the comedic excitement that unfolds among crew members and passengers onboard a plane with failed landing gear that everyone expects to crash.
Spanish filmmaker Almodóvar wrote and directed the film, which opened in theaters across Spain March 8, marking the strongest-ever opening weekend for one of his films, with box office earnings of more than $2.5 million. Los Amantes Pasajeros stars Javier Cámara, Cecilia Roth, Lola Dueñas and Raúl Arévalo, and features cameos by Penelope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega. Watch the trailer here.
