Fruitvale Station Screening, Q&A with Ryan Coogler

15 Jul 2013 - By TW Staff

Last week, the Time Warner Foundation and Sundance Institute hosted a screening at the Time Warner Center for Fruitvale Station, a film written and directed by Time Warner Foundation Fellow, Ryan Coogler. Check out the video below to watch the Q&A with Ryan that followed the screening.

Ryan's journey to the big screen began in the January of 2012, when he was named a Fellow and accepted into the Sundance Institute Screenwriter's Lab. There, he worked with advisors and mentors to further refine the Fruitvale script. Fruitvale would go on to debut at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film, making Fruitvale the first Sundance film to win both awards since the 2009 premiere of Precious. Fruitvale debuted in theatres on July 12, in select cities.

The Time Warner Foundation's mission is to seek innovative and powerful ways to discover, nurture and celebrate the next generation of storytellers. Ryan Coolger is a great example of that mission brought to life.
