CNN Films: Sole Survivor

6 Jan 2014 - By TW Staff

In CNN Films' latest documentary, Sole Survivor, writer and director Ky Dickens explores the emotional trauma and psychological aftermath experienced by sole survivors of major aircraft disasters.

Throughout the history of commercial aviation, there have been 14 large airplane crashes with only one survivor. Sole Survivor follows the journey of George Lamson, Jr. – the only survivor of Galaxy Airlines flight 203 – as he reaches out to the 13 other sole survivors to share stories and learn how they’ve tried to heal and rebuild since the tragedy.

In partnership with Psychology Today, CNN Films will host a screening of Sole Survivor at Time Warner Center on Tuesday, January 7, at 7 p.m., which will be moderated by CNN's award-winning medical correspondent Elizabeth Cohen. If you're in the New York area and want to attend, sign up here.

Sole Survivor debuts on CNN/U.S. Thursday, January 9, at 9 p.m., 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. ET. During the film's premiere on television, Dickens, CNN Films and others associated with the documentary will provide behind-the-scenes commentary and respond to questions on social media with the hashtag #SoleSurvivorFilm. Real-time conversations will also be captured and curated across social platforms, including Twitter via @CNNFilms and Facebook.
