Ellen Welcomes Audiences Abroad, First U.S. Talk Show Carried in China
Before she takes on her hosting gig for the Oscars this March, Ellen's "special brand of humor" will be heard across the globe as The Ellen DeGenres Show becomes the first U.S. daily talk show to be carried in China.
The eleventh season of her Emmy Award-winning talk show, which earned her a second year being named America's Favorite TV personality (she's also been a top-ten favorite since her show debuted in 2003), is now available in China through online video provider Sohu Video. Each episode will be delivered within 48 hours of the show's U.S. broadcast, featuring subtitles in Chinese, and available on demand 24/7 throughout its licensing period.
"Ellen has clearly differentiated herself and her talk show from so many of the controversial conflict-oriented talk shows as it has become an increasingly positive alternative in daytime featuring the biggest stars from worlds of film, television and music," said Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution in the announcement. "She has an unmatched and unique brand of family-friendly humor and love of pop culture that appeal to audiences of all ages in a very fun one-hour of programming. We are thrilled that Ellen will now be seen in China and is the first U.S. talk show available there."
