Special Access with HBOAccess for Filmmakers

4 Feb 2014 - By TW Staff

Yesterday, HBO announced the foundation of HBOAccess, a new corporate responsibility program created to identify and support diverse talent in the filmmaking world. The four-week program will help filmmakers develop their projects and provide them with master classes and mentoring opportunities. Participants will be given a budget to create short-form content for HBO.

“We are thrilled to present this opportunity to filmmakers who might not otherwise find their way through our doors," said Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, in a statement. "I believe this undertaking will serve as a valuable experience not only for those who are chosen to participate, but for us at HBO as well.”

Filmmakers can submit their applications through Without A Box now through March 3, 2014. Finalists for the program will be notified at the beginning of May. Participants of the program will be paired with an HBO development executive who will act as their mentor throughout the program. At the completion of HBOAccess, the participants’ projects will be considered for production as a 10 to 15-minute film or web series to air on various HBO platforms.
