This week, basketball fanatics can tune into TNT for exclusive live coverage of NBA All-Star 2014 from New Orleans February 14-16, featuring marquee events and culminating with the 63rd Annual NBA All-Star Game at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 16.
In addition to all-access coverage during the game (the most All-Star participants in the event's history will be mic’d), NBA All-Star 2014 will also feature live reports from TNT analysts Grant Hill and Chris Webber with interviews directly from the East and West benches throughout the game.
And for the first time ever during a live basketball broadcast, the network will give fans 360-degree replays with freeD™ – free dimensional video technology developed by Replay Technologies – through the placement of nearly two dozen 5K ultra high definition cameras around the court.
TNT will also place a “steady cam” on the court, another first, to provide viewers with enhanced visuals such as bench interactions and player exchanges on court during suspenseful gametime moments like free throws.
“We’re thrilled to be working with our league partners to deliver unprecedented levels of access for our fans during this year’s NBA All-Star events in New Orleans,” said Craig Barry, SVP of production and executive creative director, Turner Sports in the announcement. “Our all-access approach and the use of new cutting-edge technology will bring our fans closer to the game and provide a special showcase for these marquee events.”
Turner Sports and DC Entertainment have also announced a first-of-its-kind comic book, The Justice League Goes Inside the NBA: All Star Edition. The 12-page, limited-edition comic book features TNT's Sports Emmy® Award-winning Inside the NBA studio team and The Justice League from DC Comics.
Studio host Ernie Johnson and analysts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal join forces with special guests Superman, Green Lantern, Flash and Steel to play an All-Star charity basketball game. When their plans are thwarted by the appearance of the evil Professor Ivo, the team saves the day with unexpected superpowers.
The comic book will be distributed free to fans at the NBA All-Star Jam Session in New Orleans and is available today on nba.com.
