Back in December, Time Warner earned a score of 100% on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), an annual survey by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), for the seventh consecutive year. To help celebrate this honor, Time Warner hosted the Human Rights Campaign Awards and Reception event last Tuesday at Time Warner Center in New York City.
The event recognized the historic role of businesses being ahead of lawmakers in recognizing their LGBT employees by extending fair policies and benefits to them, earning top marks on the HRC’s annual Corporate Equality Index.
Lisa Garcia Quiroz, Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, Time Warner Inc., gave opening remarks at the ceremony and credited the LGBT Business Resource Groups at Time Warner. “[The BRGs] make us a better company, they are our conscience, they are our partner in this journey and I don’t know what I would do without them and I don’t know what the company would be like without them,” she said.
Later, Nischelle Turner, on-air talent for CNN, interviewed Chad Griffin about the state of the LGBT movement and the events that led to the DOMA and Perry decisions, which are highlighted in HBO’s upcoming documentary The Case Against 8. Watch the video clip below for a segment from the interview.
