In a star-studded tribute hosted by Anderson Cooper, CNN revealed its 2014 Hero of the Year, Pen Farthing. Farthing, pictured above, was recognized for his nonprofit group, Nowzad Dogs, which reunites soldiers at home with animals they took in during combat.

Last night's event honored the Top Ten CNN Heroes for their extraordinary efforts to change the world and make a difference in their communities. The Top Ten CNN Heroes each receive $25,000 for their causes, and Farthing was awarded an additional $100,000 after being named the CNN Hero of the Year.
