Time Warner’s Public Policy Office and Warner Bros. Pictures hosted a reception and special screening of Best Picture nominee American Sniper January 13 at the United States Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Vice President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden attended the event, along with senators, members of Congress, senior military officers, administration officials and representatives of veteran’s groups.
In welcoming the more than 250 attendees, Carol Melton, Time Warner Executive Vice President, Global Public Policy, thanked the vice president and Dr. Biden for their steadfast support of our nation’s veterans. She also gave tribute to Chris Kyle’s widow, Taya Kyle, for opening up her life to make the film possible, and praised Bradley Cooper's incredible performance.
Cooper, the film’s star, spoke about the process of capturing Chris Kyle’s true story and portraying him on screen. Taya Kyle delivered moving remarks about her husband and how accurately the film portrays his struggle to put the horrors of war behind him and turn to helping other veterans with their transition home from military service.
American Sniper opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, January 16.
