Precision Performances at Portfolio Day

20 Oct 2015 - By TW Staff

Recently, the Time Warner Investments group held its 12th Annual Portfolio Day, an internal event at which Time Warner Investments portfolio companies present to executives from Warner Bros., HBO, Turner and Time Warner Corporate. The event serves as an opportunity for Time Warner divisions to evaluate the latest products and technologies from these mid-stage companies that could enhance current business offerings. Over the years, a number of portfolio companies established operational partnerships with Time Warner divisions, leading to innovative products and campaigns. Portfolio companies are selected based on specific strategic and financial criteria, including the company’s ability to demonstrate near-term partnership potential, feasibility of its business model and technology, quality of the management team, and attractive financial return potential.

Rachel Lam, Senior Vice President and Group Managing Director of Time Warner Investments, opened the event by highlighting select focus areas for the group, including millennial content; data driven audience targeting in the linear based ad market; and a paradigm shift towards augmented and virtual reality. Following the event’s kick off, executives from portfolio companies discussed their current offerings, progress and potential areas of collaboration with Time Warner.

Presenting startups included FanDuel, Vessel, Mashable, Bustle, Simulmedia, Joyus and Binge Media, among others. The event also featured a series of virtual reality demos.
