CNN Gets Friendly with Facebook Messenger

News junkies on Facebook Messenger just got a new best friend.

On Tuesday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that users of the Facebook Messenger app can chat directly with CNN to receive the latest breaking news and information. Subscribers to CNN for Messenger will receive top stories right within the app, an experience that gets more personalized and intuitive with each interaction.

In an ever-changing world and amidst a potentially historic U.S. presidential election, CNN will use bots to interact with Facebook Messenger users in a natural and conversational way. Take today, for example: Those interested in the latest twists and turns in the race for the White House can simply message "Paul Ryan announcement" and CNN will respond with a lede and link to the latest breaking news.

The CNN for Messenger experience is powered by Outbrain for Chat, which allows CNN to seamlessly match learned personalization with editorial content. To learn more, read about it at CNN -- or, you know, just ask them on Messenger.
