Lights Out Shines Bright on YouTube
Lights Out, the new horror film from New Line Cinema hitting theaters this Friday, has been described as "a Cinderella story born at YouTube," after director David F. Sandberg's original short went viral and caught the attention of The Conjuring director James Wan. This week, scares from new filmmakers inspired by the film are taking center stage on YouTube as part of the film's promotion.
Warner Bros. partnered with YouTube Space NY to produce a series of horror shorts from aspiring filmmakers based on the theme: "What are you afraid of?" New Lights Out-inspired sets were built, and Sandberg himself helped guide the filmmakers in both their process and their burgeoning careers. Debuting over the course of this week, the shorts are available on the YouTube Space NY channel, and individually on each filmmaker's YouTube channel.
Watch the first two films below, and check back to find the rest of the series on YouTube throughout the week. Next time you're asked what you're afraid of, there's a chance you just might have a new answer.
