A "Wonder"-ful U.N.Ambassador

25 Oct 2016 - By TW Staff

The world's number one superhero (at least as ranked by Entertainment Weekly) has a new superlative to add to her resume.

Last Friday, Wonder Woman was designated as United Nations Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls in support of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal No. 5 - to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. The historic moment happened on the day that also commemorated the iconic Super Hero's official 75th Anniversary.

Lynda Carter and Gal Gadot

DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson and surprise guests Gal Gadot, Lynda Carter and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins attended the U.N. ceremony in New York (see the video below), after which, Gadot and Jenkins participated in a Facebook Live session.

Later, the conversation went meta-social with Jenkins and Gadot participating in a Twitter Q&A as well.

All in all, it's been a big year for the Amazing Amazon. Congrats to Wonder Woman (and our friends at DC Entertainment) on this historic honor!
