An [Energy] Star is Born

Warner Bros. Studio Plaza in Burbank has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR® Certification for Superior Energy Efficiency in 2016. This marks the eighth year in a row that Studio Plaza has received this badge of honor, a nod to Warner Bros.' ongoing sustainability efforts

Over this past year, Warner Bros. improved its energy performance by managing energy strategically across the entire organization and by making cost-effective improvements to its buildings. Changes included installing LED lighting in all restrooms, motion sensor fixtures in stairwells and the replacement of sodium vapor light bulbs with compact fluorescent, soon to be swapped out for LEDs. Earning the EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification signifies that Studio Plaza performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meets strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA. ENERGY STAR facilities like Studio Plaza use an average of 35 percent less energy than typical buildings and also release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

ENERGY STAR was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Since its inception, American families and businesses have saved more than $230 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 1.8 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions with help from ENERGY STAR.
