Last week, Time Warner’s divisions—led by Turner, as part of its three-year partnership with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)—teamed with HSF to present its 2017 Media & Entertainment Summit for young Hispanic scholars, an annual conference focusing on career opportunities in media and entertainment-related fields.

One hundred rising undergraduate juniors and seniors from the best colleges and universities in the U.S. were chosen to participate from a highly competitive pool of current Fund scholars.

The summit kicked off Thursday at the Loews Hollywood Hotel, with opening remarks from Rob Sorcher, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer, Cartoon Network.  Sorcher took the occasion to announce that Cartoon Network would be providing four 2018 internships to HSF scholars.

The whirlwind four-day event included panel appearances by HBO’s Vice President of Post-Production Mara Lopez; Ramon Escobar, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, CNN; Susana Zepeda, Vice President of Talent, Turner Classic Movies & FilmStruck; and Lisa Garcia Quiroz, Time Warner’s Senior Vice President, Cultural Investments and Chief Diversity Officer.

The scholars were also treated to a tour of the Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank, followed by a Q&A session with Diana Mogollon, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Stage 13 (Warner Bros. Digital Network’s edgy new brand) and Rosemary Markson, Senior Vice President, Warner Bros. Television Marketing.  The pair were also joined by Christi Krandihar, Senior Vice President, Talent Acquisition, Engagement & Development, Warner Bros.  and Joel Gomez, chair of UNIDOS, Warner Bros.’ Hispanic employees' business resource group.

The summit ended Sunday afternoon with closing remarks from Rita Morales, Senior Vice President of Business Affairs and Associate General Counsel at Turner.
