National Volunteer Week Spotlight: CNNers Give Back to Local Communities

16 Apr 2018 - This post originally appeared on the Turner Blog.

In honor of National Volunteer Week (April 15-21), Turner is recognizing a few of its multi-talented employees who use their free time to give back to their local communities.

CNN senior producer Jessica Dunne is a volunteer for AWARE or Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort and CNN ticker writer Angie Castillo helps out at the DeKalb County Animal Shelter, both located in the metro Atlanta area.

Both use their 40 hours of annual company volunteer release time to give back. Depending on location, Turner employees can take up to 40 paid hours (five days) each year to volunteer at either a nonprofit organization or an accredited school. Plus, U.S. employees can earn up to $1,000 for a nonprofit of their choice through Turner’s Volunteer & Matching Grant program – just by volunteering.

All this week, follow Turner’s social handles as it features employees who are making a difference this National Volunteer Week and beyond.
