Tracy Morgan and The Last O.G. Give Back in Brooklyn

Last Tuesday, TBS' The Last O.G., star Tracy Morgan, the New York City Parks department and Housing Authority hosted a block party to celebrate the renovation and re-launch of two legendary Brooklyn playgrounds.

The event was the culmination of a partnership between The Last O.G., the parks department and the housing authority that saw the Marcy Playground and the Gowanus Houses basketball courts get a makeover with Brooklyn-inspired art work and playing surface refurbishment.

For The Last O.G.'s star Morgan, it was a bit of a homecoming as he returned to Bed Stuy, the Brooklyn neighborhood of his youth, to give back to his community.

“A key theme of The Last O.G. is centered around second chances and that has found its way into every facet of our campaign,” said Melissa Chambless, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing for TBS and TNT. “What better way to celebrate than for TBS to give a neighborhood court its own ‘second chance’ with an O.G.-inspired transformation? Marcy Playground is legendary and an important place for the surrounding community to gather. We are proud to give back to the Brooklyn neighborhood who hosted the show’s production and leave a lasting piece of art.”

Over 800 community members joined Morgan and his wife for a block party MCed by New York radio personality Anglea Yee and featuring tunes by DJ Bobbito Garcia, performances by the Dynamic Diplomats of Double Dutch and The Soul Tigers marching band, and a Stunt dunk performance by Jonathan Clark, Gary Smith, Guy Dupuy, and Jordan Southerland.
