Can you believe it’s been nearly five decades since Sesame Street began helping kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger and kinder? Well, “The Count”-down to season 49 is almost over! This November, the new season kicks off with a special evening presentation of “When You Wish Upon a Pickle: A Sesame Street Special,” debuting Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, followed by new weekly episodes starting Saturday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m., ET/PT.

This season, the street where “everything’s A-OK” will explore a “Learning Through Play” curriculum that models how kids can build school readiness skills as they try out different roles during play - putting a cool spin on pretend-playing different careers.

The special goes something like this: After a mysterious “Wish Pickle” is delivered to Sesame Street, Elmo, Abby and Bert see their wishes coming true. All three wish to have jobs, and once the Wish Pickle springs into action, Elmo finds himself switching bodies with Chris so that he can run Hooper’s store. Abby gets to solve mysteries with her favorite literary detective. And Bert achieves his dream of being a TV weathercaster. But will they realize that they don’t need magic to be anything they want to be, and that if they believe in themselves they can make anything happen?

Season 49 is chock full of amazing celebrity guest appearances, as usual of course. Individual episodes throughout the season celebrate the careers theme, as the gang learns about scientific inquiry with Bill Nye, plays veterinarians with Tiffany Haddish, explores the library with Zoë Kravitz, plays the drums with Questlove and more.
