'Veep' Returns for One Last Shot at the Oval Office
Selina Meyer is once again gunning for the presidency… but is this even a good idea? We're about to find out as the award-winning HBO Original Series Veep returns for its seventh and final season on Sunday, March 31.
The acclaimed political comedy stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Meyer, the once Vice President, then briefly President. Louis-Dreyfus is also an executive producer on the HBO comedy along with showrunner David Mandel.
Fans of the show are eagerly awaiting the premiere, since production was delayed on the final season after Louis-Dreyfus revealed she had breast cancer in 2017. She has successfully completed treatment, and as a result, the final season will consist of seven episodes, down from the usual 10.
The final season will pick up with Selina thinking about running for President again after struggling with civilian life. In the season seven trailer, she goes head-to-head with former staffer and current rival Jonah Ryan, who is trying to woo the anti-vaxxer vote.
Veep will be Emmy eligible in 2019 after sitting out the 2018 awards race. The series had won three consecutive Emmy awards for comedy series between 2015 and 2017 and has also seen Louis-Dreyfus win the comedy actress trophy an amazing six consecutive times between 2012 and 2017.
We’re all looking forward to one final season of one of television’s smartest and, definitely, filthiest comedies!
