Westworld III: Forget the Wild West, This Future Has Aaron Paul
HBO’s “Westworld” has always been about the future, even though that future took us back to the lawless days of the Old West. But now, it’s really about the future – as in flying cars, robots that actually look like robots and even Aaron Paul from “Breaking Bad” fame.
HBO has just released the trailer for “Westworld III,” and it’s a seemingly giant departure from the first two seasons of the hit show. The trailer focuses on Paul’s character, who seems to be involved in some nefarious crimes in this future world. Rapper Kid Cudi makes a brief cameo in the trailer, part of a cast that also now includes “Master of None” star Lena Waithe and even former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch.
Little is known about the plot, but it seems clear that Aaron Paul’s character will be searching for meaning and “something, someone real.” Production is ongoing, so you’ll have to wait until 2020 to find out what that something is. But this is “Westworld” after all, so it’s going to be big.
The first two seasons of “Westworld” are available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and partners’ streaming platforms. The series, based on the Michael Crichton film of the same name, was created for television and executive produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Nolan and Joy’s Kilter Films and Bad Robot Productions produce in association with Warner Bros. Television.
