Neo and Trinity are re-entering ‘The Matrix’
In the movie “The Matrix,” the surreal fantasy world within the characters’ real world needs to be rebooted from time to time. Well, it’s happening in real life too, as Lana Wachowski, the co-creator of the record-breaking and genre-defining film, is set to write, direct and produce an all-new film, featuring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity.
Production of the new film is set to begin in early 2020. In the meantime, special 20th-anniversary screenings of “The Matrix” are being held at select AMC Theatres' locations across the U.S., starting Aug. 30.
The three previous films – “The Matrix,” “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions” have earned more than $1.6 billion at the global box office and were all top-10 domestic hits in their respective years of release. “The Matrix Revolutions” was also the first film ever to release simultaneously in every major country at the same hour around the world.
Since production doesn’t start until next year, we really can’t advise you whether to take the blue or red pill at this point, but either way, we’re sure it’s going to be a wild ride. As Neo says – "whoa."
