In February, HBO won the Academy Award® for Best Documentary Short (A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness).

In May, HBO earned six George Foster Peabody Awards, for the documentaries Going Clear: Scientology and The Prison of Belief, How to Dance in Ohio, Night Will Fall and The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, as well as for The Leftovers and Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel: Killing Fields. HBO Sports won five Sports Emmy® Awards, for Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Houston Texans, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and Mayweather/Pacquiao: At Last.

In September, HBO won 22 Primetime Emmy® Awards, the most of any network for the 15th year in a row. Game of Thrones led all programming with 12 Emmys®, including wins for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series; Veep won three awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Julia Louis-Dreyfus); and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver also won three awards, including Outstanding Variety Talk Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Other HBO Emmy® winners included Girls, Jim: The James Foley Story, Project Greenlight and VICE: Fighting ISIS.

HBO also won three News & Documentary Emmy® Awards, for Night Will Fall, Tashi and the Monk and Very Semi-Serious: A Partially Thorough Portrait of New Yorker Cartoonists.
