Warner Bros. To Make Full-Length Animated Feature "Scoob!" Available for At-Home Viewing May 15

While movie theaters remain closed due to the COVID-19 crisis, Warner Bros. Picture Group and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have decided to forego the theatrical release for its upcoming animated feature, "Scoob!" to make it available for families to enjoy at home. Jim Lee Launches Art Auction Alongside DC Comics to Benefit Comic Retailers During COVID-19 Crisis

Jim Lee of DC Comics has committed to creating 60 original sketches, one every day for 60 days, to auction on eBay to help support comic book retailers during the coronavirus crisis. All proceeds will go to the Comicbook United Fund at the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc). The fund was formed by DC in partnership with Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group and Binc to provide financial assistance to comic shops and their employees. DC also donated $250,000 to this fund late last month. The winning bidder on each sketch will choose which DC character Jim draws next. He is currently 20 sketches in, raising over $200,000 to support local comic shops across the country.

DC Launches DC Kids Camp to Help Parents Engage Kids at Home

With families around the world staying home, we’re looking for ways to help parents engage at home. To that end, we launched DC Kids Camp. TCM Brings TCM Classic Film Festival Direct to Fans With New At-Home Edition

The annual TCM Classic Film Festival won’t be happening in-person this year, but it will still take place -- virtually!

This April, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will present the TCM Classic Film Festival: Special Home Edition, a celebration of TCM Classic Film Festival movies and moments from the past decade that fans can enjoy from the comfort of their homes. Airing April 16-19, this special remote edition of the Festival will feature 24 hours a day of Festival films, TCM Hosts, special guests, and additional events on-air and online.

Adult Swim Adds Samurai Jack to its Library of Free Content

Just days after announcing that all episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force are being made available for free on the Adult Swim app and site, Adult Swim added a second show to its library of free content. All five seasons -- 62 episodes -- of Samurai Jack are now available to stream.

Warner Bros. Releases “The Way Back” and “Birds of Prey” on Digital March 24, and “Just Mercy” on March 19

We know you can’t go to the movies, so we’re bringing the movies to you. In an effort to provide some additional escapism, “The Way Back” and “Birds of Prey” are being made available for digital download earlier than originally scheduled. Both will be available in the United States starting March 24, 2020 with other regions soon to follow.

Warner Bros. is also releasing “Just Mercy” five days early, making it available starting today.

WarnerMedia Commits Nearly $3 Million in Support of Cultural and Arts Organizations

WarnerMedia has contributed close to $3 million to organizations focusing on supporting people working across the broadest areas of the entertainment, arts and culture industries. These beneficiaries include the following nonprofits:

  • The Actors Fund and Broadway Cares have been longtime partners of WarnerMedia, providing a partnership that supports a strong coalition of artists, performers, production and technical crews in the New York creative and entertainment community. The Actors Fund is partnering with SAG-AFTRA, AEA Curtain Up Fund, AGMA Relief Fund, IATSE Local 798 and Musician Union Local 802 to provide emergency funds for members affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Broadway Cares has set up an emergency assistance fund and has the infrastructure in place to disseminate contributions to its wide network of performers and in conjunction with The Actors Fund.
  • The Motion Picture Television Fund (MPTF) provides comprehensive aid and resources—including financial support, health and social services—to people in the Southern California entertainment community, from those in creative fields and crafts/technical roles to those in administrative positions. WarnerMedia businesses have ties with and a history of supporting MPTF and are familiar with its approach to serve as many in the industry as possible. 
  • In a city with a strong WarnerMedia workforce and community engagement footprint, Seattle’s ArtsFund COVID-19 Arts Emergency Relief Fund helps stabilize the sector with immediate relief grants for arts organizations negatively impacted by COVID-19. The goal of the Fund is to help arts and cultural organizations maintain essential functions and retain core staff throughout the current public health crisis so that they are positioned to reopen when possible. 
  • U.K.-based The Film and Television Charity has been providing hardship grants for a century. From research to writing, through casting and production, to editing, sales, distribution and exhibition, the organization supports the lives of everyone involved. The charity brought together industry groups, including the BFI, BBC and now WarnerMedia, to create a COVID-19 emergency relief fund. In addition to supporting the Fund, the donation will support the charity's Film and TV Taskforce on Mental Health to co-fund and co-create an urgent two-year action plan, the Whole Picture Programme.
  • AFC is the lifeline for Canada’s entertainment industry, and given the amount of WarnerMedia production and regional offices in Canada, it was important to direct COVID-19 support to in-country industry workers. AFC supports creative and crafts/technical professionals in Canada’s entertainment and arts industries with emergency financial aid to help them maintain their health, dignity and ability to work. Support for the organization was recommended by the MPA Canada and approved by the Canadian Cultural Ministry.  
  • Fondation des Artistes provides ad hoc financial assistance to local artists in TV, film and the performing arts (theater, music, dance) going through difficult times. It was also recommended by the MPA and approved by the Canadian Cultural Ministry the Foundation. With Warner Bros.’ game studio in Montreal, there was particular interest in investing some relief support in Quebec.
  • Through the Book Industry Charitable Foundation, WarnerMedia, on behalf of DC, has supported a fund to provide relief for local comic book retailers, many of which are closing their doors, and their employees during these times of hardship related to COVID-19. These brick-and-mortar shops represent some of DC’s strongest advocates and are on the frontlines with fans that are important to some of the company’s most important IP.
  • With a large workforce in and a commitment to the Atlanta community, plans are underway to disburse smaller “micro” grants to several local organizations that are supporting the entertainment, media, arts and culture communities during this crisis.

In an effort to offer its audience more connectivity during the pandemic, on March 16 Rooster Teeth lifted the paywall on all of their live content and made the chat functionality during live streams free for all users. To create greater shared experiences, the network also increased its live stream content from 15 hours to 55+ hours a week. In a matter of days, Rooster Teeth transformed all of its existing live show formats to be produced from home.

Before COVID-19, Rooster Teeth had 6 recurring weekly live programs, at present, they have 22. They've created new show formats as well, including a late-night talk show for these times titled ‘Keeping the Lights On’ hosted on a completely virtual set.

With PPE Limited, WarnerMedia Donates Masks, Gloves, and More to Essential Workers

Those who keep us safe are in dire need for personal protective equipment (PPE), so we took an inventory of our offices to see what we had available. WarnerMedia was able to donate a significant amount of PPE from our office buildings and productions to hospitals, medical centers, and first responders. Donations included 63,000+ face masks, 2600+ pairs of gloves, and boxes of goggles, face shields, booties, coveralls and respirators. Employee cafeterias also donated 3,000+ pounds of food to local food banks.

The PSAs have aired in more than 100 countries around the world and have been translated into 24 different languages.

WarnerMedia Commits $100 Million in Assistance to Those Impacted by Production Pauses

To ensure the health and safety of show teams across the WarnerMedia portfolio, the company announced it will suspend and delay many of its productions until the outbreak is contained. Series and pilots that have been affected include HBO’s “Euphoria,” and “Righteous Gemstones” along with the CW’s “SuperGirl,” “The Flash” and “Batwoman.” Other titles include HBO Max’s upcoming series “Flight Attendant” and TNT’s “Claws.”

We are stepping up with a commitment of more than $100 million to assist team members of those and other productions being put on hold during this time. And as things evolve, we’ll continue to evaluate how we can best respond to the challenges we face as an industry as a result of this pandemic.

A CNN Global Town Hall – Coronavirus: Fact and Fears with Facebook and Instagram

Responding to the public’s questions and concerns surrounding COVID-19, Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta hosted a two-hour special “CNN Facebook Global Town Hall - Coronavirus: Fact and Fears.” The inaugural event featured guests such as Dr. Anthony Fauci, where questions from the public were incorporated into the broadcast. Viewers could tune in to the Global Town Hall without requiring a login to a cable provider and were able to stream on CNN’s Facebook Page.
