CNN International has re-commissioned the artclub, the independently produced art show, for a further six month run, taking the show to the end of 1998. Produced by ARTV in London, the artclub was the first independently made show to be commissioned by the news network.
The weekly 30-minute programme, presented by British journalist Katy Haswell, focuses on the major news from the arts world, combined with an in-depth look at a major events and location from around the globe. In the past 6 months, Katy and theartclub team have been to every continent and profiled the international arts scene from Istanbul to Cape Town to Barcelona, some of the most important artistic locations around the world.

Derek Guthrie, executive producer of the artclub and Managing Director of ARTV, has more than 15 years experience in programme making, having worked for ITN as senior programme director, and he also produced the BBC's coverage of the OJ Simpson Trial.
"CNN International has given the world of art a new and important global audience, a celebration of art and culture. The feedback from viewers and those involved in the art world has enabled ARTV to provide CNN with an innovative new show. In the next six months we will develop it further to give the audience an even better view of the world's treasures", says Derek Guthrie.
Each week the show features a comprehensive round up of the week's news with Artnews, covering all the major news events and updating running stories. In the Spotlight is the artclub's' weekly cover story, bringing viewers the main news of the week from the programme's chosen destination. Hang out in a different city each week as the artclub's' special 'The Cultural Tourist segment brings you the best on offer in the world of art, music and theatre from different worldwide locations.
From Dennis Hopper in New York to Billy Connolly in Glasgow, the artclub has taken viewers inside some of the most talked about art collections in the world. Most recently the show interviewed David Tang and sampled the atmosphere of the world- famous China club.
