TBS Superstation Tops Basic Cable as #1 Network in Total Day among Adults 18-49

TBS Superstation's original movie THE TRIANGLE, which premiered Sunday, Aug. 12, ranked as basic cable's #1 movie for the month in household rating (4.9), as well as among key adult demos. It capped off a strong summer for the Superstation, which included the premiere of RUSH HOUR, whose Sunday, July 1, world broadcast premiere landed as basic cable's #1 movie for the summer in household rating (5.9) and #1 program among key adult demos.

The following are the TBS Superstation performance successes for August:

  • TBS Superstation was basic cable's #1 network in total day for the month among adults 18-49 (579,000).
  • THE TRIANGLE was not only basic cable's #1 movie for the month in household rating but also the #1 program for the month among adults 25-54 (4,012,000) and the #1 movie for the month among adults 18-49 (3,766,000).
  • RUSH HOUR, which had a special airing on Wednesday, Aug. 1, two days prior to the theatrical release of Rush Hour 2, ranked as basic cable's #1 theatrical movie for the month in household rating (3.8), as well as among adults 18-49 (2,677,000) and adults 25-54 (2,432,000).
  • A FEW GOOD MEN, which aired Sunday, Aug. 12, to a 3.4 household rating, ranked as basic cable's second-highest-rated theatrical for August.

The following are the TBS Superstation performance successes for summer (June — August):

  • TBS Superstation was basic cable's #1 network in total day for the summer among adults 18-49 (573,000).
  • RUSH HOUR, which had its world broadcast premiere on Sunday, July 1, earned a 5.9 household rating, making it basic cable's #1 movie for the summer among households and the #1 program for the summer among adults 18-49 (4,393,000) and adults 25-54 (4,361,000).
  • This marks the third summer in a row that TBS Superstation has claimed basic cable's top movie for the period. In August 1999, First Daughter earned a 6.9 household rating, and in August 2000, As Good As It Gets garnered a 6.8 household rating.
  • Overall, TBS Superstation accounted for seven of basic cable's top 10 theatrical presentations for August:
