Time Warner's Carolyn Dailey Appointed to the Board of First Light Movies

March 22, 2007

UK-based First Light Movies has appointed Carolyn Dailey, head of Time Warner's European Policy Office in London, as a Member of its Board of Directors.

Founded in 2001 by British film director Sir Alan Parker, First Light is the UK's leading initiative enabling young people to realise their potential via creative digital film and media projects. In her new role, Dailey will help guide this initiative which distributes £1.1m of UK Lottery funding per year and has enabled over 30,000 budding young filmmakers to write, act, shoot, light, direct and produce over 1,000 films and media projects.

At Time Warner Dailey handles policy issues in Europe across the company's four divisions - HBO, Turner/CNN, Warner Bros. and Time Inc./IPC Media - working to represent their interests with policymakers and other influential leaders.

Before moving to parent company Time Warner, Dailey headed Turner's International Public Policy operation with responsibility for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Dailey originally joined the Time Warner family in 1990 with CNN in London where as European Counsel she helped drive the launch of CNN International and subsequently Turner's entertainment channels, Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies.

Dailey is a life-time member of BAFTA, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the British Screen Advisory Council, Women in Film and Television and the Council of the Serpentine Gallery. She has a JD degree Magna Cum Laude from Boston College Law School and a BA degree with Honours in Art History from UCLA and the Advanced Programme in French Language and Civilisation at the University of Paris (Sorbonne).

Commenting on Dailey's appointment, Barbara Broccoli OBE, Chairman of the Board of Directors of First Light, said: "We are delighted to welcome Carolyn to the First Light Board. Her impressive experience with one of the world's leading entertainment and media companies, which is also a leader in digital innovation, will be an invaluable asset for First Light. She brings with her extensive knowledge of the worlds of film, television and journalism as well as formidable skills in management leadership, coalition building and strategy.

Carolyn Dailey commented: "I am honoured to join the Board of First Light and look forward to contributing to its unique and outstanding work in inspiring young people from diverse backgrounds to make film and digital media projects, enabling them to learn creative and life skills and empowering them to showcase their stories, talents and voices."
