Rome gets festive with Cartoon Christmas lights
Cartoon Christmas Lights, the festive lights featuring Cartoon Network and Boomerang characters, have been switched on in Rome for the second consecutive year. This year’s characters on display includes Tom & Jerry, The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, Tweety and Silvester, Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, The Happos Family and Scooby-Doo!
Via Condotti, the most prestigious shopping street in Rome and one of the most famous in the world, best known for its luxury brands and for being the thoroughfare to the Spanish Steps, will host the themed lights until Jan. 9.
The lights were switched on at the end of November during a traditional ceremony attended by Jaime Ondarza, Senior Vice President – Southern Europe & Africa, Marco Berardi, Vice President and General Manager Turner Italy, Marcio Cortez Meléndez, Brand Communication and Creative Director Turner Italy and Gianni Battistoni, the President of Via Condotti Association.
Hundreds of people lined the streets, ready with their mobile phones to capture the magical moment. The event featured the traditional Carabinieri (the national military police) Music Band Parade with the costume characters of Cartoon Network and Boomerang. To make the moment even more special, Ben 10, Finn & Jake, Gumball & Darwin, Tom & Jerry, the Powerpuff Girls and Scooby-Doo were positioned along the street to take fun pictures with fans and passers-by.
One again the Cartoon Christmas Lights bring a “toontastic” Christmas atmosphere and excitement to Rome.
